Operation
Friendship began with projects of
Southminster
United Church
and the Sisters
of Providence and
was formally incorporated in 1974. Our
initial service was a Drop-In centre for local
seniors who were being displaced by urban
redevelopment. |
 |
Pioneer
Place,
a 175 unit apartment building was developed to
respond to those housing needs, and now operates
on it's own. |
 |
Since
incorporation, Operation
Friendship has
offered a Outreach, Helping Hands, Housing
Registry, and Volunteer programs. |
 |
In
1985, Operation
Friendship Housing Society,
a sister society was formed when the Rooming
House was built for hard-to-house seniors. |
 |
Since 1998 we have managed
McCauley
Lodge. |
 |
We are currently managing an additional 42 apartment units in partnership with Capital Region Housing Corporation |
 |
In
total, OFSS
manages 180 housing units. |
 |
In
November 2005, we amalgamated our two societies to
become Operation Friendship Seniors Society. |
